Cascade Data Services (CDS), a wholly owned
subsidiary of MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates (MDA), is engaged in the
provision of paradigm changing satellite communication services on a 100%
global basis.
CDS customers operate in remote parts of the globe and
depend on secure, reliable communications. CDS arms its customers with paradigm
changing satellite communications in order to operate in these remote locations
as they would normally operate in urban centers. CDS offers cost-effective
satellite communications at speeds of up to 2.1 Gbps providing timely, secure,
communications reliability anywhere your business takes you.
CDS offers
services through a network of networks, including the CASCADE Polar Network and
the O3b Equatorial Network.
CASCADE TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATOR - CDS is
preparing to launch the small hybrid satellite CASSIOPE, the CASCADE Technology
Demonstrator, in 2009. It will carry the CASCADE telecommunications payload,
the heart of the very first commercial satellite-based digital broadband
courier service to be deployed as part of the Cascade Polar
network.
CASCADE POLAR NETWORK - A fleet of small LEO satellites will
provide customers with 100% global broadband coverage for sending and
retrieving very large volumes of data on a routine daily basis. The satellites
will service individual data sources and sinks sequentially, on a pre-scheduled
basis for simple store-and-forward movement of large data packages, supporting
point-to-point and point-to-multi-point applications. The service is expected
to enter commercial operation in 2012.
O3b EQUATORIAL NETWORK - A fleet
of MEO satellites will be deployed in groups of eight per launch. The
satellites will provide high-speed, ultra-low-latency Internet Protocol (IP)
connectivity between emerging and developed markets worldwide. The coverage
area is 45N to 45S. The service is expected to enter commercial operation in
2010.
CDS also provides a complete suite of both single and multi-band
satellite antenna systems to suit virtually any bandwidth intensive
application.
