CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation,
is Australia's national science agency and one of the largest and most diverse
research agencies in the world.
CSIRO operates several world-class radio
telescopes that are used by its own astronomers and other astronomers from
around Australia and all over the world.
CSIRO is building the
Australian SKA Pathfinder telescope in Western Australia a
next-generation telescope, and a test-bed for technology for the giant
international SKA telescope.
CSIRO also supports activities in space
science and Earth observation, and operates the Canberra Deep Space
Communication Complex (a spacecraft tracking station) on behalf of NASA.
