Cable and Wireless is one of the

The International business unit operates integrated
telecommunications companies in 33 countries offering mobile, broadband,
domestic and international fixed line services to residential and business

The Europe, Asia & US business unit
provides enterprise and carrier solutions to the largest users of telecoms
services across the UK, US, continental Europe and Asia - and wholesale
broadband services in the UK.
In Europe, Cable and Wireless has earth
stations at Kiddlington (Whitehill) near Oxford and Thameside (London) both in
England.
Global VSAT
Global VSAT is a dedicated delivery
platform for voice and data services to any location worldwide with data rates
up to 2 Mb/s and above. Global VSAT supports voice and data communication.
Connectivity can be provided on demand, at variable capacity, with usage based
or fixed monthly or quarterly charging.
For sites where traffic volumes
are high and demand continuous, Cable and Wireless offer dedicated links which
are permanently open, reserved for the sole use of that particular site.
Bandwidth On-demand and dedicated services are available at bandwidths up to 2
Mb/s and above, and will support a wide range of business applications
including voice, broadcast video for staff training, file transfer, or
Internet/Intranet communications.
The Global VSAT hub located at
Whitehill in the UK, is the global hub for Global VSAT operations. Whitehill
Earth Station is a fully redundant hub, offering continuous monitor and control
capability to back-up that of our Regional Hubs. Whitehill is manned 24 hours
per day, 365 days per year by fully trained and experienced earth station
staff.
VSAT services are provided on Global VSAT owned leases on the
Intelsat satellites at 62 E and 328.5 E, both leases providing European,
Eastern European and Pan-African coverage.
International Private
Circuits
International Private Circuit can link a location in the UK
connected to C and W's UK network to a location in another country connected to
that country's national network. Circuits can carry data, digitised voice, fax,
video or any other form of digital transmission, at bandwidths from 64 kb/s to
155 Mb/s. Cable and Wireless use satellite and cable facilities to provide
International Private Circuits to more than 55 countries, including all the
worlds’ developed countries.
Bandwidth
Cable and
Wireless Bandwidth circuits are dedicated, fixed, high-capacity point-to-point
digital transmission channels using Cable and Wireless owned capacity on
submarine cables and terrestrial systems. Cable and Wireless can also provide
satellite access to these circuits. Availability and bandwidths depend on the
cable or satellite systems used and the routes required.
IP
Access
Cable and Wireless IP Access provides direct, managed,
congestion-free, global connectivity to the internet via the Cable and Wireless
wholly owned internet (IP) backbone. The service is designed to meet the needs
of customers based in the UK and continental Europe, with optimal performance
to the wider internet. The service can be tailored to meet different customer
profiles and market contexts. Cable and Wireless offers a range of in-country
and in-region connectivity options and a comprehensive portfolio of fibre and
satellite links.
