CytaGlobal, is the International Commercial
Services Division of CYTA (Cyprus Telecommunications Authority) and is a
semi-autonomous organisational unit, specialising in global electronic
communication products and services.
Taking advantage of the
island’s geographical position, CytaGlobal has developed an extensive
submarine fibre optic cable network, which connects Cyprus with the
neighbouring countries of Greece, Italy, Israel, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt and
thereafter with the rest of the world, as well as an equally impressive
satellite network infrastructure.
Through its global network, CytaGlobal
provides a wide range of international telecommunications products, services
and total solutions, making Cyprus the most important telecommunications hub in
the Eastern Mediterranean and an excellent international electronic
communications centre.
CytaGlobal operates an extensive satellite
telecommunications network that provides international connectivity with global
reach. The satellite network is supplemented by optical fibre connections that
make it possible for CytaGlobal to offer reliable hybrid solutions to the
international market. CytaGlobal owns and operates two teleport sites (at
Makarios and Ermis) with a total complement of more than 20 earth stations
linking Cyprus with major satellite systems, such as Intelsat, Eutelsat,
AsiaSat, SES NewSkies, Intersputnik, and Arabsat.
Occasional, periodic
or permanent video transmissions, both terminating in Cyprus and transiting
Cyprus, can be supplied around the world. CytaGlobal provides VSAT services
with extensive coverage over underserved regions of the globe (coverage:
Europe, Africa, Middle East, Western Asia). CytaGlobal also offer telephony
over satellite and an extensive range of monitoring services. Services include
internet connectivity and circuits for dedicated applications. Such solutions
can employ either satellite means exclusively, or in combination with the fibre
optic links.
Video services are normally offered through CytaGlobal
subsidiary IRIS Gateway Satellite Services.
