ICO is a next-generation mobile satellite services (MSS) operator. ICO is meeting the demand for ‘all things mobile’ by building a hybrid system to offer satellite and terrestrial wireless services throughout the United States. ICO’s network is being designed to provide wireless voice, data, video, and/or Internet service throughout the United States on mobile and portable devices.

ICO is authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to offer MSS services in the United States using a geostationary (GEO) satellite. ICO has the opportunity in the future to seek authorization from the FCC to integrate an ancillary terrestrial component (ATC) into its MSS system to provide integrated satellite and terrestrial services. ICO also operates a medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite system globally in compliance with regulations promulgated by the United Kingdom and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

ICO’s first GEO satellite is scheduled to be launched in early 2008.
