Japan Radio Co., Ltd. dates back to 1915
when JRC was founded in Tokyo and produced mechanical gears. Over the years,
JRC has become a leader in developing cutting edge, advanced technologies in
radar, communications, navigation and other specialized manufacturing areas,
securing hundreds of patents and industry "firsts."
In 1939 JRC
developed the world's first Cavity Magnetron, a key component of modern day
radar systems and microwave ovens. Japan Radio Co., Ltd has several divisions
that manufacture a variety of products for Medical, Semiconductor, Microwave
technologies, Vessel and Land Communications and Telecommunications
applications, Military, as well as OEM contracts with other manufacturers and
distributors worldwide.
Japan Radio Company is well known as a supplier
to the deep draught merchant fleets of the world, specialising in navigation
and communications equipment since the very beginnings of their individual
conceptual introductions. JRC then has a top down approach to design and supply
equivalent superior products suited to a more workboat/pleasure boat
industry.
As a conservative company in a conservative industry JRC has
built up a very sound reputation as a company that can build reliable products
to survive in one of the harshest environments on earth and support them
equally well for many years. However, as times change and new technologies are
introduced at an ever increasing pace, it is important to not lose sight of
some the core fundamental values in an effort to keep up with the technological
rat race.
New advancements in technology are important and are a key
factor in improved safety, cost accounting and a better life at sea, but we all
know for example, that as soon as one buys a personal computer it is already
(almost) obsolete.
A ship-owner on the other hand expects nearly all the
equipment on his new vessel to last the life of the vessel.
Naturally,
radars and some other high use items will need replacing but then this is only
expected to be in a 7 to 10 year time frame.
JRC takes all of this into
consideration, in the products they bring to market, so while we are investing
heavily in continued R&D and introducing new models, we are also
continually supporting equipment on ships, fishing vessels and pleasure boats
that is well over 10 years old.
In order to achieve this goal, the
constant process of development and evaluation that JRC undertakes to meet, and
exceed, future (IMO) requirements, and the benefits of advancements in
technology, are a key factor in providing durability and improved safety at
sea.
Besides 3 main research centers, mobile, network and device related
- which are dedicated to development and implementation of advanced technology,
JRC has also established dedicated research groups in each division to support
the particulars products that will assist in gaining of new
businesses.
In the electronics and telecommunications field high quality
and reliability is required. JRC's quality assurance system controls are
production processes, from initial planning, design and manufacturing to the
final inspection and after sales services - ensuring products and services are
of uniform and stable quality.
In February 1995 JRC was certified for
quality management system, ISO 9001 and in June 2003 for ISO
9001:2000.
A formal recognition of ISO 14001 environmental management
system was received in February 1998.
Environmental protection is a
priority for the conservation of precious natural resources and the continued
health of our planet.
JRC recognises its responsibility as a global
citizen and is continually striving to reduce the environmental impact of the
work we do and the products we create.
