PolarSat is an international provider of
full-meshed VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals) networks allowing for the
satellite-based transmission of telephone, data and video. VSAT networks
provide organizations, which have geographically dispersed locations, with
efficient communication facilities in areas of the world where conventional
telecommunication infrastructures are lacking PolarSats VSATPlus II.
TDMA-DAMA technology is particularly well suited for complex private networks
applications.
PolarSats FlexiDAMA system using SCPC-DAMA
technology provides telecommunication solutions ranging from simple telephone
connectivity to complex intelligent data services such as LAN/WAN and Internet
access, and broadcast applications like video-conferencing and tele-education.
The Company also provides turnkey satellite communication systems solutions,
ranging from single earth stations to complete national and international
telecommunication networks. The Company supports its worldwide customer base
from its offices in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
VSATPlus
II
The VSATPlus II provides a full mesh, hubless network with no
single point of failure and offers the greatest ease of network configuration
and expansion. It supports the most demanding network applications including
high quality voice, low and high-speed data, video conferencing and fax - all
in a single low-cost, integrated platform. Combined with the unique direct E1
telephony and Frame Relay interface, the VSATPlus II is the most cost-effective
satellite communications solution for multi-line and/or multi-application
networks in the world.
The VSATPlus II satellite communications terminal
offers multiservice capability, using Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) with
Frequency Hopping (FHOP) technology. The system offers hubless, full mesh
network connectivity with features that provide better price/performance
levels.
VSATPlus 3
Fully integrated services in a single
platform The VSATPlus 3 terminal is based on TDMA with frequency hopping
(FHOP). Taking advantage of both time domain and frequency domain access
methods, the VSATPlus 3 allows users to support multiple services such as data,
voice, and videoconferencing in one simple, integrated IP transport
platform.
The single VSATPlus 3 platform integrates with IP based
routing and user equipment allowing for a more reliable, flexible, and
economical solution. Hubless, full mesh operation with single satellite hop.
The VSATPlus 3 is based on a flexible architecture that supports various
network topologies including star, full mesh, hybrid, or any combination of
these. The VSATPlus 3 architecture eliminates the need for costly central hub
equipment and improves call quality by transferring information over single
satellite hops. Transponder bandwidth and power requirements are greatly
reduced IP Packet Services.
PolarSat's IP support provides a powerful
and cost-effective solution to corporations, governments, and service providers
who need to interconnect locations via a satellite-based backbone. The Ethernet
Interface is supports industry-standard IP. Corporate users are provided a
single transport mechanism that can carries all user traffic such as TCP/IP,
UDP/IP, while providing mesh communications among all sites within the
network.
Satellite bandwidth is allocated through committed information
rate (CIR), excess information rate (EIR), and Quality of Service (QoS)
definitions, and optimized using dynamic bandwidth allocation (BoD) techniques,
thereby minimizing recurring communications network costs. This approach
provides user traffic with guaranteed bandwidth and the ability to request
additional bandwidth from the network. VSATPlus 3 provides the virtual LAN in
the sky with the satellite bandwidth resource shared among all
users.
FlexiDAMA
FlexiDAMA based SCPC DAMA VSAT networking
system is capable of providing a wide variety of satellite based communications
services in an extremely cost-efficient manner. FlexiDAMA systems use
satellites to provide wireless connectivity between terminals geographically
dispersed over a wide region. FlexiDAMA uses SCPC-DAMA (single channel per
carrier - demand assigned multiple access) satellite access technology to
provide full mesh circuit and packet switched connectivity with dynamic
in-circuit bandwidth-on-demand to provide maximum flexibility and bandwidth
efficiency. User applications serviced by FlexiDAMA systems can range from
simple telephone connectivity to complex intelligent data services such as
LAN/WAN and Internet access and broadcast applications like video-conferencing
and tele-education.
SkyIP is a low cost FlexiDAMA terminal option for
remote sites when a single IP or serial data connection is required. It
integrates the satellite modem and router/bridge function to provide a very low
cost unit. SkyIP units provide both SCPC DAMA and BoD to efficiently use
satellite bandwidth and reduce operating costs. When a remote site needs more
than a single carrier, FlexiDAMA Units (FDUs) provide multiple SCPC carriers as
needed.
